ENERGY AND
UTILITIES
How we respond to the
global threat of global warming,
environmental pollution, carbon footprint, and limited resources are common
concerns worldwide. For many decades, Altran has played a vital role in
environmental protection, efficient use of available energy resources, and
actively supports and promotes a further reduction in CO2 emissions.
The company offers a wide range of services to energy utilities, government
organizations and various industrial segments.
Altran operates alongside major energy-producing sectors,
namely those of oil and gas, electricity
conventional, nuclear electricity and
renewable energy. We also support energy consumer sectors and particularly the customers which invest to optimize their energy consumption.
We provide our customers with project management support for the System & Equipment engineering,
Design, Construction, Commissioning, Procurement, Operation and Maintenance of
their energy system infrastructures.
Since 2004, Altran has been committed to the solar impulse project as an
official partner.
The mission of
the project was to demonstrate the feasibility of a complete day-night-day cycle
propelled solely by solar energy. Altran is responsible for designing solar cells, batteries,
electric motors and energy management activities (computers, controllers, etc.).
Altran provided support for the definition and optimization for the aircraft's
power system. It consisted of solar sensors on the wings, electric motors that
activate propellers, batteries enabling flight during the night, and electronic
control units and regulators for energy management. This system enabled the
aircraft to remain in flight without any other energy source than sunlight, for
several days.
